If you've not yet had the luck to stumble into a Torchy's Tacos, get off your rear and go now!  No really, you can read the rest of this when you get back.

The name of the place instantly gives you the idea you're in for Mexican food.  In fact, we have listed them under the Mexican food section. (for lack of a more specific category)  But their tacos have been referred to as gourmet food in a tortilla.  Like Austin, this place is truly unique from the food to the menu names and the t-shirts.

Sounds a little hard to believe right?  How unique could they be while making tacos?  Well one of the tacos we would HIGHLY recommend to everybody is the "Brushfire" a flour tortilla loaded up with Jamaican Jerk Chicken, grilled jalapenos, sour cream, cilantro and mango.  Then you'll need to top that with the delicious and spicy Diablo sauce made in house.  The combination of flavors makes this one a hit.  (and we love spicy)

Or you might try the "Green Chili Pork Taco" the most popular choice at Torchy's.  You'll also find a "Fried Avocado Taco", a "Baja Shrimp", "The Dirty Sanchez", burritos, nachos and fajitas.  Each one of their tacos generally come with some sort of sauce to finish off the flavor with.  We tried each one and were pleased with it all.   It's no wonder their called "Damn good tacos"and not surprising the chef responsible for the menu comes from an extensive background in the culinary arena.

They also do breakfast tacos and have a wonderful little dessert called "Little Nookies" which are deep fried chocolate chip cookies.  (looks like a donut hole, VERY TASTY)

Torchy's Tacos (a three time Salsa Champion) is quickly becoming an Austin food powerhouse.  Starting out with only a taco stand, they now have four locations and strong following of Austinites who love what they do.  They even have a special catering menu for those looking to make their party or other special events a hit.  Bet you're gonna love it too.
