Here's another great stop for Asian food on

our quest to find powerhouse local restaurants in Austin and surrounding areas. Ott Chantangsu owner of Thamnak Thai in Cedar Park is bringin' happy patrons elegant local dining... Thai style. Ott came here from Bangkok quite awhile back decided about seven years ago to start sharing his love for Thai cuisine with the rest of us. And we are happy that he did.

Thamnak Thai can be found in a Cedar Park strip center at the corner of Buttercup Creek and 183 (Bell), where many other restaurants and businesses seem to come and go. But Ott's food puts a smile on peoples faces, fills them up and leaves a terrific lasting impression.

This restaurant makes authentic food that would be found in Central Thailand. You can find a number of delicious menu items ranging from spicy salads and curry dishes to a number of noodle, rice and stir fry

plates. There's all kinds of seafood dishes, and of course the lovely thing about Asian food and Thai food in particular is the blending of different flavor profiles like sweet and spicy.

Thamnak Thai brings you the intricate flavors of Thai cuisine in a modest location at a VERY reasonable price. This is one of the few places that you can still get lunch for only $5.95, and plenty of it.

One of our favorites... a very popular and traditional Thailand entree called Pad Thai. We do love the spicy dishes, but for those of you out there who need something a little milder, you have control of the spiciness on this one. They make all of their food with fresh ingredients and have stopped nothing short of a home run on this one. Delicious stir fried noodles with egg, bean sprouts, green onions, a little paprika and ground peanuts with a choice of chicken, pork, beef, tofu or shrimp make for a savory dish. Add the available chile powder to spice up as required. There's just a

hint of sweet in this one and we love the finished product.

And if you like curry, you're in luck. If you don't, Ott might just be able to change your mind. Try one of his curry selections which are all blended with a little coconut milk and flavored just right for just about anybody.

If you're on the Gluten Free hunt... Thamnak Thai makes some dishes gluten free by request. They offer wine and beer and the atmosphere in this restaurant is very soothing. Definitely makes a good place to just have a quiet lunch or dinner and enjoy really, really good food.
