As many restaurants do, they also cater events, but did you know you can even get Greek food delivered? Who would've thought? You would need to check with the restaurant to see if you're in the delivery zone but they deliver to most areas in and around Austin.
Inside you'll find the staff all dressed in chef's jackets, large amazing pictures of Greece, and an Austin family restaurant atmosphere. They make everything fresh each day using old family recipes. One of their signature dishes, Moussaka (eggplant, sliced potato, ground beef and tomato sauce, topped with a layer of bechamel, baked till golden brown) is a local favorite.
We would like to recommend the Gyro, specifically the pork. It's delicious roasted pork, lettuce, onion, tomato and terrific tzatziki sauce wrapped in a hand made pita. Having a little bit (many years) of experience with great HOME made Greek food, it's safe to say El Greco's food is much like what mom makes.
We also love the Souvlaki, our choice... the rib eye skewers, also served with the tzatziki sauce and pita. Which by the way they offer two sides with and we had the Greco Fries and Rice Pilaf. Those are the best fries we've had in a long time. Not really sure what they season them with but we ate every last one and considered ordering more, even though we were full already. (honestly, we also considered getting another Gyro to share as well)
They also make a number of dips and spreads in house. We suggest that you give them a try, no matter what part of town you're coming from.
